Dean Home was born in Busselton, studied at Curtin University and now lives in Melbourne. Dean’s work has been chosen for the coveted Leeuwin Estate Art Series wine labels. His painting appears on the label for the Cabernet Sauvignon 2001, on current release. In 2004 he was commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery to paint Sir Gus Nossal AC, distinguished scientist and Australian Of the Year 2001. His work will be included in the forthcoming book Unfinished Journeys edited by Professor Jenny Zimmer and arts manager Ken McGregor, published by Macmillan Press (release date 2006). This book of paintings and photographs includes the artists John Olsen, Tim Storrier, Jason Benjamin, Yvette Swan, Tanya Hoddinott, Sharon Green, Emma Langridge, Zhong Chen and Mina Young. Several of the paintings in this exhibition are included in Unfinished Journeys: Ripe Peppers, Burgundy table, What I bring, Return to the city, An older story, and A pranzo. Dean will also start printmaking and representation through Port Jackson Press from November 2005.
