The Church Gallery is pleased to present its final, and most exciting
exhibition for the year. The white show features new artworks from 31
local and interstate artists, all based on the theme of white.
Viewers will love the simplicity of the theme and the diversity in
which it has been interpreted. On display will be sculptures by Stuart
Elliott and emerging artist Andrew Bloxsome, detailed drawings by Jillian
Green and Andrew Nicholls, cutting edge video works by young artist
Sam Rowlands, paintings by Dean Home, Paul Trinidad, Jonah Cacioppe,
Anwen Handmer, Wendy Kelly, Margaret Vinciguerra and Lisa Wolfgramm.
Digital technology and photographic works are presented by Rick Vermey,
Tom Gibbons and James Doohan. Maria Blackmore, another emerging artist,
is working with light and glass, and Kate Faulds and Serena McLauchlan
both work with wax, but with very differing results.
Award winning artist Paul Hinchliffe has contributed a fabulous painting
based on his recent open box explorations of perspective.
Paul won the City of Joondalup and the City of Albany art awards this
year, and was the 9th recipient of the Mark Howlett Foundation Commission.
The award winning artists dont stop with Paul; Miriam Stannage
(a hugely well respected local artist with works in nearly every major
state collection) will also present new work, and Holly Story, the winner
of the 2003 BankWest Art Award, will exhibit an artwork based on found
materials. Young Sydney artist Johan Cacioppe won the 2002 Brett Whiteley
Scholarship, and Peter Dailey, Andrew Nicholls and Rick Vermey are among
just some of the other award winning artists.
This exhibition will also allow several emerging artists, who have
previously shown at The Church Gallery in the annual recent graduate
exhibitions, the chance to showcase their new artworks. Keep an eye
on these artists, we think their work is hot! Maria Blackmore, Andrew
Bloxsome, Allison Davies, James Doohan, Joanne Emmons, Kate Faulds,
Anwen Handmer, Nina Jean, Simon McArdell and Sam Rowlands. Emily Mabee
and Serena McLauchlan are also emerging artists, who shared a very successful
exhibition together at the gallery in 2003 and we look forward to seeing
their new work.
